Within the next two years students will be able to look out on the land on East Campus and not see just fields of corn but a field of solar panels. Mount St. Mary’s has partnered with Constellation Energy Corporation and Maryland’s Generating Clean Horizons program to install a $60 million solar energy facility on campus.

“Mount will be leasing the land to Constellation Energy who will be operating and maintaining the facility,” explained Mike Malewicki, Vice President for Business and Finance. “All Mount really has to do is have the facility on our campus.”

This project will not only be beneficial for the environment but also the University and town of Emmitsburg.
