New Jersey celebrated a milestone last week as it reached 100 megawatts of installed solar capacity, spurring official chest-thumping.
Gov. Jon Corzine (D) called the state’s 100 MW mark a “monumental achievement [that] only serves to further strengthen New Jersey’s position as one of the fastest-growing solar energy markets in the United States.” And other officials crowed that the Garden State has more solar power per capita and per square mile than the overall U.S. leader, California.
Research by the Interstate Renewable Energy Council shows New Jersey with more solar power than Florida, Texas, Arizona and Nevada combined. New Jersey just edges out Colorado for grid-connected solar, but it has roughly double the cumulative capacity.Read Full Article
