The state Senate last week passed a bill that would create a revolving loan program to allow homeowners to weatherize their homes.
“Riverdale is the kind of area where it could easily benefit,” said state Sen. Eric Schneiderman, who has part of the neighborhood in his district.
If Gov. David Paterson signs the bill, the state would start by raising $112 million from the auction of rights to release greenhouse gases. Then, New York will set up programs to loan up to $13,000 to qualified homeowners, with higher rates for commercial buildings and multi-family buildings.Read Full Article
