Scientist – Analytical Chemistry

The Scientist – Analytical Chemistry will be responsible for establishing analytical capabilities to support diverse projects in fermentation-derived chemicals. The successful candidate will be responsible for the development and implementation of robust analytical methods (HPLC, LC-MS-MS, GC, GC-MS, etc.) to be used for identifying and quantifying intra- and extracellular compounds in microbial cultures. The candidate will also be responsible for interfacing with strain development, biochemistry and fermentation groups, and for analytical aspects of collaborations in the fields of metabolomics and metabolite profiling.
Requirements

Experience in adaptation of analytical methods to high-throughput systems is desirable. This role requires a high level of technical knowledge of analytical and organic chemistry as well as a solid understanding of cellular metabolism.

A Ph.D. in organic chemistry or analytical chemistry plus two years of postdoctoral training is required. The candidate must have a strong track record of successful method development and implementation, supported by publications and patents. This position requires at least 80% hands-on work at the bench in addition to supervisory responsibility for one chemist. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
